Batisani Phia Appointed as Procurement Manager, NDB Botswana

The National Development Bank (NDB) has announced the appointment of Batisani Phia as its new Procurement Manager, bringing over 18 years of progressive procurement and supply chain experience to one of the institution's most strategically critical functions.

Phia arrives at NDB with a career built across some of the most demanding sectors in the procurement landscape, including energy, utilities, telecommunications, and manufacturing.

His expertise spans strategic sourcing, contract management, procurement policy development, supplier relationship management, and the procurement of large-scale infrastructure projects, a breadth of experience that positions him well to strengthen NDB's procurement function and support the bank's broader development mandate.

Phia holds an Executive Master of Business Administration in Supply Chain and Logistics Management from Eaton Business School in partnership with Guglielmo Marconi University, as well as a Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Engineering from McMaster University.

He has also completed the Management Development Programme at Stellenbosch Business School Executive Development and holds multiple certifications in procurement and management systems.

He is a Certified Supply Chain Professional and a member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply, reflecting a commitment to professional standards that has defined his career.

His appointment signals NDB's recognition of procurement not as a back-office function but as a strategic lever for institutional performance, value delivery, and governance, a fitting appointment for a development bank whose work touches infrastructure, investment, and national economic growth.
